About the new product range
Why is Quividi updating its product range?
Quividi has been pioneering Anonymous Video Analytics since 2006 and introduced the distinction between the Pro and the Expert operating modes in 2015.
Since then, we’ve witnessed a number of important changes in the digital signage industry:
The expectation that the audience interaction with this media be as easily measured as any other digital media - while reckoning its 1:many nature as a media
The discovery of the importance of playing good content, which requires assessing how the public engages with each piece of content
The advent of programmatic trading for advertising screens
The emergence of neural nets as the state-of-the-art in computer vision
The need for mask detection
With its product range update, Quividi prepares for this new era, and offers a solid data platform upon which network owners and content producers will be able to build their content strategy.
What does the Quividi Platform now offers?
Quividi now articulates its offer around the AMP platform, which consists of VidiReports (the local computer vision software, running in a new operating mode called ‘Core’) and VidiCenter (the online datacenter that collects anonymous audience data).
On that bedrock, Quividi now offers add-on packs that serve the following needs:
Interactivity
Programmatic
Sampling & extrapolation
VidiCenter APIs
Audience per content
Campaign intelligence

How different is VidiReports Core from VidiReports Pro and VidiReports Expert?
VidiReports Core implements a new class of visual classifiers for determining the gender and age of the audience, that relies on state-of-the-art neural nets. Quividi sees it as the new default foundation upon which it is building the rest of its product range.
Core comes with a slightly different feature set than Pro (it provides the absolute age and a better gender estimator). Both version support Mask detection.
Core is an operating mode in VidiReports (just as Pro a) and requires to use at least VidiReports version 7.4 (whereas Pro also ran on VidiReports 6.x). Note that 7.4 or above is required to use mask detection.
What impact does it have on me?
As an existing customer of Quividi, you will be able to keep running as before if you’d like (even if, by March 31st 2020, you’ll be expected to upgrade for free to the latest version of VidiReports 7.x, as per point 10 therebelow).
However, this product range update is also an opportunity for you to revisit the various potential uses of the Quividi solution for your business needs.
About the upgrade process
What benefits will I get if I upgrade to VidiReports Core?
There are 3 main reasons why you’d want to upgrade:
You’ll get more accurate results. The neural net technology has been trained on many more images than the former technology and delivers a higher accuracy level in the estimation of the age and gender, whatever the age and ethnic group of the audience
You’ll enjoy the benefits of the new VidiReports 7.x architecture, which includes a faster processing (up to +50%), the possibility to decide when and where to apply upgrades, more flexible rights management and the capacity to quickly integrate future visual algorithms.
You’ll have the latest bug fixes and improvements (note that VidiReports 6.x has not been updated since Dec 2018)
Will I keep the same feature set if I upgrade from Expert to Core?
VidiReports Core includes a more accurate gender and age classifier than what exists in Expert (and Pro)
If you upgrade from Expert, Quividi will provide you with a new and improved mood classifier at no extra CPU cost compared to Expert.
Facial hair and glasses detection is not provided in Core for the moment.
How does an upgrade process work?
To upgrade to VidiReports Core, you’ll first need to ensure that you are running VidiReports 7.4.0.3 or ulterior. This page will provide some guidance for it. (Remember that this will be the last upgrade that you’ll have to deploy yourself, since you’ll then be able to manage the upgrades remotely from within VidiCenter).
When this is installed, and upon your confirmation, Quividi will remotely activate the Core mode in lieu of the mode you had been using up until now.
Will VidiReports Core require more CPU that the current version I’m using?
While neural nets used in the Core mode require more CPU than the former technology used in Pro and Expert, this is compensated by the performance gains introduced by VidiReports 7.x.
In other terms, when you run VidiReports Core 7.X, you should use roughly the same CPU as when you ran VidiReports 6.X in the Pro mode, and less CPU than when you ran VidiReports 6.X in the Expert mode.
Do I really have to upgrade and will it cost me anything?
Let’s distinguish two elements:
Quividi retired support for VidiReports 5.X and 6.X in 2020. By March 31st, 2020, you will have to run all of your network on VidiReports 7.x. This change of version is free. We recommend that you run on the latest version - and at least on version 7.4.0 to use the mask and mood feature included in Core.
Upgrading from Expert to Core will be free, while upgrading from Pro to Core will come at a small cost - Please contact your sales representative for more details.
